Choosing Water Filters

Filter choice depends on your water quality, not on the number of stages. The early stages (polypropylene and carbon) remove sediment, chlorine, taste and odour; a reverse-osmosis membrane removes dissolved salts. A mineral stage returns some beneficial minerals after RO. Cartridges must be changed on schedule — a dirty cartridge becomes a place for bacteria to grow instead of filtering, and it is the most neglected part of any filter.
